The Great Zuma Rock Green Marathon is a unique event that will help in accelerating the call to action for a greener sustainable, Economically progressive Niger State and especially on matters well planned greener landscapes and attainment of the UNSDG 6 of access to clean water and quality sanitation.

The event’s location will be around Zuma Rock. Specific details to be communicated.

In the quest to actualize sustainability and best practices towards responsible utilisation of resources we have found it necessary to establish The Great Zuma Rock Green Marathon.

This marathon will support all activities in the climate change space particularly around Niger State,Nigeria and Globally.

It is my desire that,this marathon will be on the world map and attract the best athletes around the world coming to support the green economy and mitigation of climate change activities.

The inaugural event, being one of its kind, was conceived with the thought of involving and encouraging the private sector to participate in the race to net zero goals and climate action.

This will be a great platform to raise awareness as well as accelerate the objectives of the green economy summit that was held in Nov 2023.

Community groups, corporate groups, schools, NGOs and Governmental Organizations are encouraged to register to foster healthy team building and networking while providing a fun day for families. It is my pleasure to welcome you all.

To Map natural resources within the state to help local communities in understanding unique environmental assets and identify areas that require protection or sustainable management.

While encouraging the people on importance of adopting healthy lifestyle through staying active, The Marathon will raise funds to support access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene to those communities worst affected by effects of climate change within Niger state.

21 Km Men and Women Half Marathon

The 21 Km Half Marathon offers a blend of challenge, appealing to runners seeking a significant distance with a balanced level of exertion.

10 Km Wheelchair Marathon

The 10 Km Wheelchair Marathon promotes inclusivity, welcoming individuals using wheelchairs to partake in the marathon experience

10 Km Men and Women Race:

The 10 Km Men and Women Race presents an ideal platform for runners of varying levels. It offers a medium-length course. This is great for corporate Team Building participation

5 Km Family Fun Race

The 5 Km Family Fun Race is a delightful opportunity for families to come together and participate in a shorter, enjoyable race. You can come with your whole family including the kids

Health and Wellness Expo

We will have a warm up and cool down space paired with live music and entertainment, and an array of food and drink. The expo will serve as an informative hub, offering insights into healthy living and environmental sustainability.

Event Sustainability

Eco-Friendly Practices

Use of compostable food containers and utensils along with a comprehensive recycling system for all event waste. Additionally, we will be planting trees at the RCE MINNA Children Green Park, affirming our dedication to creating a greener environment

Tree Planting

We are set to produce and grow 200,000 tree seedlings annually in each of the 25 local governments within Niger State for the next 5 years, growing a total of 25 million trees across the state during that period. This initiative, led by local youth and women, will spearhead sustainable change from the grassroots level upwards.

Sanitation

Our initiative will extend beyond the marathon itself.

We will establish hygiene rest stops along the State road network while upholding eco-friendly principles and hygiene.
